The 5-Day Cleanse


PURGING THE CRAP!

     It is the week after Thanksgiving, which is the week after my Birthday, needless to say my body has been fighting chemicals it is not used to fighting, like processed foods, sugars and alcohol.  I could feel it too, I was lethargic, I had a slight headache, and I just did not feel right. Although I attempt to eat healthy foods all year long, I had allowed my self to indulge in many processed foods from a box, including goldfish, tortilla chips, and French toast.
    In an effort to rid my body from these unwanted chemicals, I decided to purge my body with a cleanse.  In the past I have attempted to cleanse, but they were long and very detailed. I was only able to make it about a week before I wanted some meat, eggs, vegetables, and real food!

    I found a cleanse, while checking out the Sweaty Betties web page. I love that web page and I had the chance to meet Danny J while I attended their "Perspiration and Inspiration" seminar in Las Vegas back in October. She is a super cool chick and her page is full of great information. Check it out if you get the chance at http://www.thesweatybetties.com to do the Sweaty Betties cleanse. I choose this cleanse because it only takes five days, it wasn't overly complicated and I knew I could make it through for five days
    The first day of the cleanse was a fast, I indulged in lemon water and hot teas, wheew fill me up, totally kidding! This was the first time in my life I have ever gone an entire day without food. I did well all day until 6pm, when I was serving my family spaghetti, for dinner. My initial thought was that the sauce was organic and full of veggies so it would not be too bad if I ate it as a soup. However, I was able to talk myself out of it and survived another three hours and went to bed. I had come so far; and I did not want to ruin it. It was definitely a test of my perseverance.
    The second day was full of raw veggies, and I felt like I was on cloud 9, I had so much energy; I cleaned my gym, my house, and decorated for Christmas.
    As the next three days progressed my energy levels began to increase, I could visibly see the water weight I carry, from eating breads and high sodium foods, disappear from my body. I know not all results will be typical for all people, but I was amazed how well my body functioned when I gave it
    In only five days, I have been able to visibly notice the difference in my skin and body. I have learned more about nutrition specific to MY individual body, than I ever learned in any course, group, or online. My skin is tighter; I have no headache, and I am full of energy.
   Cutting out the crap and allowing our bodies to go back to homeostasis gives us knowledge about foods and their function for us individually. I challenge you to get to homeostasis and listen to what your body is trying to tell you!
